Volunteers put up posters in Seattle to spread awareness of missing Israelis from Hamas attack

About 200 volunteers have put up thousands of missing posters across Seattle.

SEATTLE — The local Israeli community raised awareness about those still missing from Hamas’ attack on Oct. 7.

Larry Gros has been on a mission across Seattle for the past two days, posting the faces of those believed to be kidnapped and taken hostage during the Hamas attack on Israel.

“You almost can not see the same face twice," Gros said. "There are so many different people."

The initiative started in New York City and has now reached Seattle with 200 volunteers putting up thousands of posters throughout the weekend.

“The people we use on these posters are only those we know for sure are kidnapped,” Gros said.

Gros said they are more than just a number. They are real faces and real families.

“This is just one example, Carmel Got 39 years old, Aviv another small baby just two years old and the list is endless,” Gros said.

Gros moved to the Seattle area from Israel two years ago. His family and friends are still there.

Gros said his immediate family is safe, but some of his friends lost loved ones during Hamas’ attack and some are fighting for their lives.

“I’m fine but definitely not okay," Gros said. "Last Saturday more people died in one single day in 12 hours than any other day since the Holocaust. I want to ask the world to stand with us."

As signs were put up Sunday, KING 5 witnessed them being torn down.

“This is something we're used to seeing in the last couple of days," Gros said. "He was too ashamed to show his face and come talk to me. I just want to talk to him to explain to him what we actually doing here."

Gros said their efforts won’t be deterred.

“We will continue doing it day by day until we will let the world know. That's our goal here,” Gros said.
