Voting operations not impacted by website IT issues, King County election officials say

The King County Elections Department's informational website carried a message warning of outages Tuesday morning, but officials say operations were not impacted.

King County Elections Department's website, along with other county department websites, carried a banner Tuesday warning of possible site outages.

The warning read: "Intermittent Site Outages: We are working to resolve the issues as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience!"

The Elections Department said it was part of a county-wide issue where websites were facing slow performance and spotty outages. However, voting and election operations were not impacted, according to the department.

"Our understanding from IT is that while there were some issues this morning, it has been resolved and is functioning as normal," a spokesperson wrote in an email to KING 5 Tuesday afternoon.

King County Elections Department's communications manager said there was no impact to election operations, other than a slight increase in phone calls and -mails from voters with questions about where to find their drop boxes.

"We don’t anticipate any further issues or any impacts to how results are posted," the spokesperson wrote.

During future issues, the department said the staff is on hand to answer questions via phone at 206-296-8683, and also offers information and responds to requests on social media and email.
