PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — Track Aug. 6, 2024 primary election results for the biggest races across Pierce County, including several county council positions, sheriff and county executive.
An initial round of election returns will be released shortly after 8 p.m. on Election Day. These returns are from ballots that were turned in early and tabulated. However, counties will release additional results in the days after the election as more ballots are counted. Additional results are typically released daily.
The County Canvassing Board will certify and transmit election results Aug. 20. The last day for the secretary of state to certify the primary election results is Aug. 23.
County executive, assessor and sheriff
Pierce County voters will weigh in on the county executive, assessor and sheriff positions.
The race for sheriff will be closely watched heading into the November general election, as the person elected will replace Ed Troyer. Troyer is a long-time employee of the sheriff's office who, after being elected sheriff, became the center of a trial in which he was accused of false reporting and making a false or misleading statement. He was found not guilty in 2022.
County council
Four Pierce County Council positions are up for election.

Fire and public safety measures
Voters throughout Pierce County will decide on a number of measures that would increase taxes to provide additional funding for fire and public safety.
State House, Senate and Congressional races
All seats for Washington's House of Representatives and approximately half of state Senate seats are up for election. All 10 of the state's Congressional seats are on the ballot as well.
