The US Senate approved a new US Attorney for Western Washington.
Late Wednesday, Brian Moran was confirmed by the Senate by a voice vote.
US Sen. Patty Murray’s office said she voted to approve of the nomination by President Donald Trump.
Moran is a former Washington State Deputy Attorney General under Republican Rob McKenna, and also worked in the same office under Democrat Christine Gregoire. He’s most recently worked in private practice in Seattle.
Moran will succeed Annette Hayes, who has served as the interim US Attorney for the Western District since the departure of Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan in 2014.
