Newly elected Lt. Gov. Cyrus Habib talks achievements, goals for office

KING 5 sat down with newly elected Lt. Governor Cyrus Habib who makes the first Iranian-American elected statewide in the nation. He’s also the youngest statewide elected official, this year, at 35. Habib, who served in the state senate prior to running for statewide office, lost his vision to cancer as a child.

Washington’s new team of statewide elected leaders will be sworn in next year. That includes five individuals who are new to their roles, since there were several open seats this year.

KING 5 sat down with newly elected Lt. Governor Cyrus Habib who makes the first Iranian-American elected statewide in the nation. He’s also the youngest statewide elected official, this year, at 35. Habib, who served in the state senate prior to running for statewide office, lost his vision to cancer as a child.

Roles of the Lt. Governor’s office include acting governor when the governor is absent, president of the state senate, chair of the legislative committee on economic development and international relations.
