SEATTLE — With Open Enrollment around the corner, now is the time to learn more about Premera Blue Cross' dedication to expanding Medicare Advantage coverage to more counties in Washington State, as well as increasing the number of providers. Premera's Tracy Bos joined New Day Northwest to discuss the big changes in their Medicare coverage for 2019.
- Soundpath Health customers: Premera recently acquired the Medicare Advantage contract from Catholic Health Initiative’s Soundpath Health, which means that 22,000 Soundpath Health customers will become Premera customers, effective January 1, 2019. Existing Soundpath members don't need to do a thing, the only thing that will change is the name on your ID card.
- New expanded coverage means Premera is expanding availability of their plans across Washington State, and has expanded their provider network.
- Medicare Advantage plans offered by private companies are approved to cover Medicare benefits for seniors. These plans often include prescription drug coverage, and may include extras like dental, vision, hearing, and fitness benefits. Enrollment is open for Medicare Advantage Oct 15 - Dec 7.
