Qwest Field to become Century Link Field?

Corporate merger leads to name change.

SEATTLE -- It looks like Qwest Field is getting a new name.

Century Link and Qwest Communications are expected to close a multi-billion dollar merger on April 1st, and the combined companies are expected to undergoma major rebranding effort.

That will include the Seattle stadium, which hosts the Seahawks and the Sounders.

Century Link spokesperson Anne Marie Sartor says the computer will operate under the Century Link name, and intends to rebrand any stadium where Qwest holds the naming rights. Qwest had signed a long term deal for the football/soccer stadium.

It's the latest change to the Seattle scene, due in large part to changes on the corporate landscape.

The one time Washington Mutual Center is now named for Frank Russell Investments. Hec Edmundson Arena was once also known as Bank of America Arena, but now carries the Alaska Airlines brand. Seattle Center also says Key Bank is pulling its sponsorship from the arena on campus.
