Seahawks Throwback Thursday: Skunking Cards in record fashion

It's almost cruel to talk about.
Richard Sherman #25 of the Seattle Seahawks scores a touchdown on a interception return against the Arizona Cardinals at CenturyLink Field on December 9, 2012 in Seattle, Washington.

The memory freshest in the minds of Seahawks fans, when you talk about the Arizona Cardinals, is Marshawn Lynch's 79-yard touchdown run last year in a 35-6 blowout on Sunday Night Football.

But just a couple years earlier, the Seahawks pulled off a more impressive feat, embarrassing the Cardinals 58-0 at CenturyLink Field.

It's almost cruel to talk about.

The Seahawks manhandled the Cards on the ground. Lynch and Robert Turbin both ran for over 100 yards. Lynch scored three touchdowns.

The defense scored twice. Malcolm Smith recovered a muffed punt in the end zone and Richard Sherman returned a John Skelton interception 19 yards.

Skelton was picked off twice by Sherman and twice by Bobby Wagner.

"I've never been involved in anything where the ball falls your way every single time. It seemed like if the ball was going to come out it was going to fall our way," said Sherman.

Skelton went 11-of-22 for 74 yards.

"For them to come out and dominate the way they did in every phase of the game it's embarrassing," said Skelton.

Lynch was at his best against a porous defense. He ran the ball 11 times for 128 yards and three touchdowns. Russell Wilson was 7-of-13 for 148 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Even Matt Flynn saw action in garbage time.

"It was great to be able to come out of the game because we blew them out so bad," said Russell Wilson.

It was the second shutout over the Cardinals in Seahawks history. They also beat Arizona 38-0 in the desert on Sept. 14, 2003.
