Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre is selling costumes to the public

This is the first rummage sale of its kind.
Prices range from $1 to $100 at the 5th Avenue Theatre's costume sale.

All the world's a stage - and now, some costumes from the 5th Avenue Theatre could be in your closet.

"It's just a huge rummage sale of stuff we don't have room for anymore," said Chris Moad, Costume Shop Manager.

In the first event of its kind, the 5th Ave. is putting hundreds of items up for sale to the public. Inventory includes costumes, dresses, men’s suits, hats, shoes, and accessories.

Some of the pieces were used on-stage. Others were created by the costume shop but never saw the spotlight. All of them are tied to productions like Man of La Mancha, The Pajama Game, The Pirates of Penzance, and RENT.

"This one came from Kathie Lee Gifford's personal collection of costumes that she had in her garage,” said Shannin Strom-Henry, Costume and Wardrobe Director. "There's a little bit of everything, something for everybody here."

It’s a treasure trove for anyone with a flair for the dramatic and an affinity for bargains.

"Priced to move baby,” Moad said. "We start at a dollar, we go up to $75 - $100."

Most items run around $5-$10. Cash or credit cards are accepted. Sizes range from kids to plus-size adults.

The 5th Ave's costume team hopes whoever gives the pieces a second life will love them a little bit more because of where they came from.

“If those clothes could talk, you know?” Moad said, laughing.

The costume sale will take place inside the 5th Avenue Theatre’s warehouse in Kent at 22703 72nd Ave S, Building A #105.

It’s scheduled from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on August 3 and 4.
