MCMINNVILLE, Ore. A unique water park opened in Oregon last month. The main attraction is four big slides that begin inside the belly of a Boeing 747-100 jumbo jet that sits atop the roof, 62 feet above the splash landing.
The Evergreen Wings & Waves Waterpark bills itself as an educational park that includes 10 waterslides, a wave pool and a children s museum dedicated to teaching students about the power of water.
The fastest of the slides is the Nose Dive a two-person inner tube ride that combines a fast initial drop into a high rate bank turn. It leads the riders into a dark oscillation section before breaking out of the clouds through a hologram image and into the circular bowl below.
Other slides are the Tail Spin, Sonic Boom, and Mach 1.
The park, which is adjacent to the Evergreen Aviationand SpaceMuseum and its Spruce Goose, also has video game area, museum, concessions and private party rooms.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day.
Admission to Evergreen Wings & Waves is $25 for anyone 42 inches or shorter and $30 for those over 42 inches. There is a H2O Museum only admission for $10.
