SPANAWAY, Wash. -- Toddler Dominic Alexander first captured our attention back in December, with this photo on Facebook, modeling his special Seahawks-colored casts.
Now the little guy is dancing his way into our hearts, showing off his healthy legs and smooth moves.
We first learned about little Dominic when his mom Shareka shared a photo of the pint-sized Seahawks fan on Facebook. The 2-year-old had to wear the casts as part of a surgery to correct a problem with his feet.
The photo led to well-wishes from around the country. Dominic even got a visit from his idol, Seahawks' quarterback Russell Wilson, while recovering at Seattle Children's Hospital.
In early February, Dominic's mom emailed KING 5 to let us know that doctor's finally removed the toddler's colorful casts.
"We are so very excited, though Dominic seems a little unsure," she said. "When I told him they were coming off, he looked sad and said, 'No Mommy! My Eeeeehawk casts!!' It seems as though he feels they are a part of him. As, you can imagine, after 11 weeks in casts, walking is going to take some getting used to."
Dominic will have to wear his new braces for at least four months as he gets used to walking again.
Mom added, "Dominic has been so strong and brave through this all. He is my little hero!"
Ours too.
