BREMERTON, Wash. — The balloons are blown up, the cake is decorated. Kitsap Credit Union’s CEO Shawn Gilfedder has the big check and Evening’s Saint Bryan is in charge of confetti.
"On behalf of the Kitsap Credit Union and KING 5 and the Best of Western Washington, Laura, we'd like to congratulate you with this 5000 dollar check!” Gilfedder said as the confetti flew.
Longtime Evening viewer Laura Hine of Gig Harbor won 5000 dollars from Kitsap Credit Union in a random drawing, just for voting in 2022's Best of Western Washington contest. Evening’s Saint Bryan asked Laura what she planned on doing with the money.
"I think I'm going to share it with my family members,” Hine replied.
She added that this was the first time she had won anything substantial, and that she planned on putting some of the confetti that covered her into an envelope to save.
A friendly Kitsap Credit Union employee helped us get some of the confetti off Laura, with an industrial shop vacuum.
We’d like to offer a hearty congratulations to our winner, and also let her know that she also deserves an award for being a good sport and going along with our shenanigans. As Saint proudly put it, “We take care of our viewers!"
