SEATTLE — A trio of events kicking off Saturday, November 4 highlight Puyallup’s unique food, wine, craft beer and venues. The Culinary Classic is one of the South Sound's premiere foodie events.
“About five to six years ago, I experienced Cornucopia in Whistler, which was a real foodie, culinary experience,” said Tara Doyle-Enneking, CEO, Puyallup Sumner Chamber of Commerce. “I have always wanted to bring that to our region with our agricultural heritage, our farm to table restaurants, our celebrity wine makers and our hops heritage.”
The Brewallup Craft Beer Festival is the first of three events, taking place on Saturday, November 4, from 1 to 7 p.m. at the ShowPlex at the Washington State Fair Events Center. It’s a great opportunity to sample local beers and interact with craft brewers. You can also enjoy food trucks and a lineup of bands throughout the day.
Celebrate the perfect pairings of wine and cuisine at Forks and Corks Friday, November 10 from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. The multi-course meal and curated wine offerings at Farm 12 Events Center will be guided by celebrity broadcast journalist and cooking show host Jen Mueller.
Thoughtfully prepared by chef Aaron Welch, the menu will feature lobster and mushroom toast, caramelized pear and goat cheese pancetta crisp, a signature heirloom tomato vinaigrette, seared halibut and much more.
“We’re seeing a huge resurgence in retro or classic American dishes kind of getting reinterpreted in a more upscale setting,” Welch said.
You can enjoy these dishes paired with wines then dance the night away to live music in one of the region's most sought-after event venues.
The final event is the Great Grape Taste on Saturday, November 11 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Pioneer Park Pavilion. Spend the afternoon tasting the region's best wines in a relaxed, casual setting with 15 to 20 winemakers. Guests will have the opportunity to mix and mingle with winemakers, buy exclusive wines to take home and take advantage of wine club memberships.
“We are just really trying to showcase all that is so fantastic about this wonderful, wonderful community,” Tara Doyle-Enneking said. “I think we’re doing a good job with these three events.”
