SEATTLE — Dermal fillers are a popular treatment in aesthetics and can help smooth wrinkles and creases, plump lips, and enhance facial contours.
Many fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, which is naturally produced in the body. As people age, though, they don’t make as much of it, so fillers help to replace it.
“It’s very natural,” said Dr. Tianna Tsitsis of RejuvenationMD. “We have it in our skin to begin with. We’re not putting anything unusual in there.”
There are also other fillers, called biostimulatory fillers, to help you produce collagen and add volume and rejuvenate skin.
“It’s really not important for a patient to know what filler they want,” Dr. Tsitsis said. “It’s just for them to tell their injector, who should be experienced, what their goal is.”
While filler is a nonsurgical treatment, it’s important to choose the right provider to ensure nothing goes wrong. Dr. Tsitsis suggests you select a provider who does aesthetics and fillers regularly. This ensures your injector is experienced and can make recommendations based on your goals.
“You also should go to a person that looks normal,” Dr. Tsitsis said. “If you walk into an office and their front desk looks a little bit unnatural, then just walk out.”
Another recommendation is ensuring the provider doing your injections is a physician, a nurse practitioner, or a physician’s assistant. If it’s an RN, it’s important they’re supervised by a physician or nurse practitioner.
RejuvenationMD has locations in Burlington and Bellingham with another coming soon to Bothell. The practice has seven female injectors, including three physicians, two ARNPs, and two RNs, and offers 55 services to help patients boost confidence and feel better about their skin and body.
