Hawk Zone: Seahawks beat the Cardinals for the second time this season

SEATTLE — The 12s took over in Arizona as the Seahawks soared to victory against the Cardinals, 30-18.

“It felt more like a Seahawks home game than a Cardinals home game,” Terry Hollimon said. “We were louder, more aggressive.”

This was the second win in three weeks for the Seahawks against the Cardinals, and it featured solid performances on both sides of the ball. After some tough losses earlier this season, the Hawks have rallied and control their own destiny now in the NFC West.

“It looked rough for them for a while, but four games in a row,” Hollimon said. “They’re sitting right on top of the NFC West.”

The run game was on fire Sunday, as running back Zach Charbonnet rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns in Kenneth Walker III’s absence.

“The team rallied around the new running back, and he did a great job,” Hollimon said. “Plus, the offensive line, they’re getting healthier. They’re coming together.”

The defense had two interceptions by Ernest Jones IV and Coby Bryant and held star quarterback Kyler Murray and the Cardinals offense to two passing touchdowns.

“You keep a quarterback like Kyler Murray under control, keep him in the pocket, don’t let him make too many big plays, and you’re winning,” Hollimon said.

The team won the turnover battle too, and there were several key performances on both offense and defense. Hollimon’s player of the game, though, is Zach Charbonnet, who was just shy of 200 combined rushing and receiving yards.

“It was an incredible day for this young man,” Hollimon said. “I’m very proud of him.”

Sunday Night Football is up next for the Seahawks, as the Green Bay Packers come to town. Quarterback Jordan Love is putting up impressive numbers this season, and the offense has big play ability.

“They have a very explosive offense,” Hollimon said. “Seattle defense – you’re going to have your work cut out for you this week.”
