Hawk Zone: Seahawks drop to 4-4 after tough loss to Bills

A struggling run game, missed tackles and penalties all plagued the Seahawks on Sunday. Sponsored by Muckleshoot Casino Resort.

SEATTLE — The Buffalo Bills dominated the Seahawks in a 31-10 Hawks loss on Sunday at Lumen Field.

“The running game is currently in the witness protection program,” Terry Hollimon said. “We have no idea where they are. Also, the passing game, witness protection. The quarterback sacks, witness protection.”

Coach Mike Macdonald says the Seahawks got outplayed and outcoached by the Bills. Hollimon agrees.

“It was probably the worst loss I’ve seen in Seahawks stadium in probably six, seven years, easily,” he said.

Hollimon says the defense missed key tackles and players were often out of position, issues that the Seahawks have struggled with this season.

“You look at the Buffalo Bills,” he said. “These guys were unfortunately bullying the defense around. They were just taking our defensive line and pushing them where they wanted to go.”

The Seahawks offense had just 32 rushing yards, and the running backs averaged just 1.3 yards per carry. Geno Smith threw for zero touchdowns and had an interception. The team also had 11 penalties on the day.

“They seem to make penalties in the most inopportune times and in inopportune places,” Hollimon said.

While it wasn’t an easy week to choose a player of the game, Hollimon did select punter Michael Dickson. He is averaging 61 yards per punt.

“Michael Dickson, every single week, he could really be the guy that gets player of the game because he’s an incredible kicker, one of best punters in the National Football League,” Hollimon said.

The Seahawks will take on the Rams at home this Sunday in an NFC West matchup. Though the Rams started off slow this season, they have star receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua back and healthy now.

“It’s going to be another tough one for the Seahawks,” Hollimon said.
