“We’ll take a look at your whole health because really, it’s going to help us discover what we need to face in that weight loss challenge,” said Brandon Smith, a primary care provider at EvergreenHealth Primary Care, Canyon Park.

“One of the biggest things I really try to do for my patients is give them something to take away,” Smith said. “The last thing they want to do is come into our office and feel more overwhelmed than when they came in.”

Smith emphasizes simple lifestyle changes, like increasing water consumption to keep your body hydrated and adding more movement into your day. You should also focus on eating more nutrient dense foods, reducing processed foods and incorporating more healthy fats in your diet.

The registered dietitians at EvergreenHealth nutrition services address a variety of health and food related concerns, including heart health, weight management, food allergies and intolerances, family meal planning, eating disorders and sports nutrition.

“We really work with you one-on-one, counseling with you to have a healthier, better diet but also, more importantly, to help you just to feel better,” said Christina Baker, a registered dietitian at EvergreenHealth diabetes education and nutrition services.

The team uses your past medical history, lab work and a body composition analysis to tailor a food plan to you and your needs. They can also partner with other specialty clinics to determine a comprehensive health program.

“We create this special program for you to help you along your health journey,” Baker said.

Smith says it’s so important to focus on diet and exercise because they greatly impact overall health.

“Diet and exercise impact our entire being, everything from sleep to our energy to our mood,” he said.
