Behind the door of the floatplane hangar at Kenmore Air Harbor, a beast has been lurking…
Well, it's actually a Turbo Otter floatplane — but it's getting a makeover. With the, now iconic, Space Needle/anchor logo and that glowing red eye emblazoned on the plane, this Otter is transforming into something else entirely — something a bit more ferocious. That’s right, it’s becoming a Kraken.
The remodel is a collaboration between Seattle Hockey Partners and Kenmore Air.
“We're off the charts excited about it,” said Kenmore Air president Todd Banks, “It's the enthusiasm and the excitement the team’s bringing to our town — it's bringing a lot of positive energy and we just love being a part of it!”
Keep an eye out for the Kenmore Kraken on the docks at Lake Washington and Lake Union — or the skies of western Washington
Now that the border is re-opening, there is one place in particular that Banks cannot wait to take the Kraken plane.
“She'll get scheduled for some flights to Canada, Banks beamed, “We look forward to having people flying around in a Kraken airplane and landing in Victoria and Vancouver and stoking the rivalry.”
It’s not a bird. It is a plane. But it’s also the latest symbol of Seattle pride.
