MANSON, Wash. — They say that Lake Chelan Valley is really unique when it comes to growing apples -- it is a microclimate that generates some of the best fruit in the world. Growing apples is a year-round activity, but fall is when it all comes together. That's when the apples have started to develop their quality and flavor profiles.

Companies like Manson Growers in Manson, Washington, are ahead of the game, combining tradition with innovation.

“This is an operating packing warehouse with locally grown fresh apples,” said Jared England, President of Manson Growers. “My family has been growing apples in this valley for over 100 years; it's really a labor of love.”

New to Manson Growers is their cafe, Cider Press, where you can try some of their delectables including fresh-pressed cider, espresso, ice cream, smoothies, apples and caramel, sourdough and paninis. You can also learn how to press your own custom-blend fresh apple cider using their U-Press Cider experience.

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll choose the finest apples, press them and create up to 10 half gallons of fresh, delicious cider. Perfect for individuals, families and friends, this unique one hour experience memorably combines fun, education and a newfound appreciation for this craft.

“Cider pressing is a local tradition, families here have been doing for generations,” said England. “It's really hands-on and family-friendly experience.”
