Get more storage space in your pantry with customized solutions

ShelfGenie of Seattle provides solutions based on a client’s space, preferences and the types of items that need to be stored. Sponsored by ShelfGenie.

SEATTLE — When it comes to pantries, what works for one person may not work for another. That’s why ShelfGenie of Seattle designs, builds and installs custom storage solutions.

“We take spaces that are super frustrating and painful to access, and we make them more functional and more enjoyable to use on a day-to-day basis,” said Alan Regala, ShelfGenie director of client happiness.

Many pantry spaces can be difficult to use with deep shelves and hard-to-reach areas.

“You end up just piling things on top of each other and [there is] lots of wasted space as well,” Regala said. “And people end up with things that are expired in the back of the cabinets.”

Regala and his ShelfGenie team start by visiting a client’s space to see what’s possible, consider the size of items that need to be stored and the client’s preferences to make recommendations for custom solutions.

The pull-out shelves and other solutions can replace the wire shelving that is standard in many home pantries, allowing clients to access items easier, stay organized and gain back storage space. These solutions allow for compartments for all different sizes of items, including canned goods, a mixer and broom.

Walk-in pantries, in particular, can be challenging for storage because of corners.

“The deeper you make the shelves, the more difficult it is to access that corner space,” Regala said. “Having really good solutions for the corners is important.”

ShelfGenie can install turntables/lazy Susans in the corner so clients can utilize their space while being able to access all of their items.
