New Providence Swedish North Tower will enhance and expand healthcare for patients in Puget Sound

The North Tower is scheduled to open in 2027. Sponsored by Providence Swedish

SEATTLE — In Providence Swedish's 112 years of history, there's never been an operation this big.

"This is huge. This is probably the largest expansion that we've taken on as an organization. This is our North Tower project. So basically, it is an expansion of our First Hill campus," said Dr. Elizabeth Wako, President and CEO of Swedish Health Services. "It is a deep commitment and investment in the Seattle community, so we're incredibly excited to be able to deliver it. And if you didn't know, Providence Swedish, provides a majority of the care for King and Snohomish County. So, we're constantly thinking about the future of healthcare, and this building is really going to be a building that allows us to deliver healthcare in a new and innovative way."

"This is a $1.3 billion tower, a pretty significant investment of Providence and our foundation and our generous donors that have allowed us to build this building," said Dr. Wako. "We're definitely thinking about what's next. We're thinking about what kind of new technology we'll be able to bring in. A lot of our surgeons have some innovative and great ideas of ways that they can deliver care a little bit differently in the operating room, so we're looking at that technology. It's pretty exciting to be able to have this chance to reinvent how we deliver our care.”

The new North Tower will open in the fall of 2027.
