Seahawks proving doubters wrong with win against Giants

The Seahawks are now the only team in the NFC West with a winning record at 5-3. Sponsored by Muckleshoot Casino.

SEATTLE — Sunday’s Seahawks game was the only NFL matchup of two teams with winning records. The Seahawks 27-13 win broke the Giants four-game win streak.

“The Hawks took care of business this weekend and beat a very good New York Giants football team,” Terry Hollimon said.

Giants running back Saquon Barkley was held to a season-low 53 yards rushing by the Seahawks defense, and quarterback Daniel Jones was held to 176 yards passing and no touchdowns.

“They kept them in check,” Hollimon said. “Daniel Jones didn’t have a very good day. Saquon Barkley was held in line most of the day.”

The Seahawks forced two turnovers on special teams, and tight end Will Dissly came up big.

“Uncle Will, as they call him, made a big play on the first one causing a fumble, and he actually recovered the second one,” Hollimon said. “So big deal for these Seahawks on special teams.”

Receiver Tyler Lockett made some uncharacteristic mistakes early in the game with a fumble that gave the Giants the ball at the two-yard line and a drop on a well-thrown deep ball. He was able to bounce back, though, catching a touchdown pass to put the Seahawks in the lead.

DK Metcalf also scored a touchdown after going out last week with an ankle injury.

“He came back, and he actually made a difference in this game,” Hollimon said. “Big playmaker, scored a touchdown and helped motivate this team to a big victory.”

Even though many people had doubts about the team before and early on during the season, the Seahawks continue to prove them wrong.

“The Seahawks fought all adversity, fought all the doubters and all the naysayers, and now they’re the guys with the target on their backs.”

This Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals will be a challenge against a dynamic, mobile quarterback in Kyler Murray.
