SEATTLE — The Washington Huskies are just one win away from earning a spot in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.
Standing in the undefeated squad's way is the Texas Longhorns, winners of the Big 12 Conference title and the No. 3 ranked team in the nation.
Here's what Husky fans should know about when and where to tune in to catch the first playoff appearance for Washington since 2016.
Matchup: Washington vs. Texas
Date: Monday, January 1
Time: 5:45 p.m. PT
Location: Caesars Superdome, New Orleans
TV channel: ESPN
The Husky game will kick off following the first College Football Playoff semi-final, which will be between the University of Michigan and the University of Alabama at the Rose Bowl.
The winners of the Rose and Sugar Bowls will then face off in the CFP National Championship at NRG Stadium in Houston on Jan. 8.
The Longhorns were winners of the Big 12 Conference in 2023 and finished the regular season with a 12-1 record. The team's only blemish on the year was a close loss in the team's annual "Red River Rivalry" game against the University of Oklahoma.
Texas had one of the most impressive wins of the season early on when they took down Alabama in Tuscaloosa 34-24. Quarterback Quinn Ewers hasn't put up nearly the numbers as Husky star and Heisman runner-up Michael Penix Jr., but Ewers is immensely talented and will be tough to stop.
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian's name might sound familiar to Husky fans, as he was in the same position at Washington from 2009-2013.
