UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – Tiger Woods was at Chambers Bay Golf Course Monday playing a practice round ahead of this month's U.S. Open.
It was Sunday night at The Hub restaurant at the Tacoma Narrows airport as a full house dined they enjoyed a view of the runway and many jets
But when one specific jet landed restaurant owner Pat Nagle recorded it because he knew it was a big deal.
"When he flew in last night it was like we think that's Tiger…TIGER WOODS… and it was," said Nagle.
All of a sudden the story was everywhere on social media after real estate agent Steve Sloboda posted at tweet saying Tiger Woods plane landed at Narrows Airport in Gig Harbor.
It didn't take long to figure out where he was headed. At 8 a.m. Woods was on the course in University Place.
"He's one of my favorite players and it's just a once in a lifetime to see these players up close and person," said Dan Sullivan, a member of an impromptu gallery at chambers bay who watched the former number one player in the world play 18 holes in advance of mid June's US Open.
"It really just gives you a little more insight to what it takes to be at the top of the game and be something special in this sport," said Sullivan.
This day was something special for those who showed up to this championship course, but sadly it was disappointment for Lisa Richard
When the round was done Tiger took off on a back road
"He ran away from us," said Richard.
He's off to Ohio, where he starts play in the Memorial on Thursday.
The U.S. Open will be June 18-21 and is sold out. Tickets for practice rounds June 15-17 are still available.
