Former Gonzaga Bulldog Sunny Greinacher wins gold medal in 3x3 women's basketball

Greinacher graduated from Gonzaga in 2015 and was the first German to ever play for Gonzaga women's basketball.

PARIS, France — Former Gonzaga Bulldog Sonja "Sunny" Greinacher is an Olympic gold medalist following Germany's 17-16 victory over Spain in 3x3 women's basketball.

Greinacher hit the game winning two point shot with 30 seconds left to seal the gold medal for Germany.

Greinacher attended Gonzaga from 2011-2015 and was the first German born player to ever play for the Zags.

The 6'4" forward from Essen, Germany, averaged 14 points, six rebounds and two assists as a senior at GU.

Greinacher won gold alongside her teammates Marie Reichert, Svenja Brunckhorst and Elisa Mevius.

Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki was in attendance for the gold medal game to cheer on Greinacher and his fellow Germans.

Cashmere's Hailey Van Lith led the United States to a bronze medal in 3x3 women's basketball in a victory over Canada.
