SEATTLE — Thousands of fans watched the Seattle Mariners win their season's final game Sunday at T-Mobile Park.
The team finished with 85 wins and 77 losses, marking another season without a postseason appearance.
"It's always fun to say goodbye to the stadium for the next few months and some players who probably won't be back," Caytlin Carlson said.
And for some Mariners fans, they won't be coming back either.
"We've been fans for a long time, this is our last time as season ticket holders,” Damon Pipkin said. “We're not buying season tickets anymore. We're done. We're out."
After too many strikes to count. Just like how peanuts and cracker jacks are a common sight at the ballpark. So is this a common feeling from M's fans?
"Huge disappointment,” Pipkin said. “Being on the edge so much and they don't deliver."
"A little disappointing,” Carlson said. "I think they're were a lot of hopes going into the season."
But that hope ended up being a swing-and-miss. The Mariners missed the playoffs for the 22nd time in the last 23 years.
"How is that happening?" Pipkin said. "Every other team can do this (make the playoffs) except the Mariners. Why? Why is it the Mariners the only team that can't? It's not the players. It can't be the players."
So what do fans think is the problem?
"It's the management,” Pipkin said. “And if they're listening. You guys, fix it, we're done."
"It seems like management is more interested in making money and they don't actually care about winning," Carlson said.
But these fans do. And hope next season the team will swing for the fences as it continues to pursue its first World Series championship.
“Everyone's still going to the game even though we're out of it,” Carlson said. “Seattle deserves to have a winning baseball team."
