Husky fan guide for CFP National Championship weekend

Tens of thousands of people from around the country are expected to visit Houston and the CFP Host Committee has scheduled several events beginning Friday.

HOUSTON — Husky fans heading to Houston for the College Football Playoff Championship game can expect a wide range of events ahead of kickoff.

Tens of thousands of people from around the country are expected to visit Houston this weekend and the Host Committee has scheduled several events beginning Friday.

Playoff Fan Central

The three-day family-friendly event Playoff Fan Central begins Friday at noon at the George R. Brown Convention Center. According to the CFP, the interactive experience gives fans the opportunity to be a part of the National Championship.

The event includes games, clinics, pep rallies, band performances, special guest appearances, autograph signings and exhibits. 

Here's the full schedule:

  • Friday, January 5, 2024: Noon - 6 p.m. CT
  • Saturday, January 6, 2024: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. CT
  • Sunday, January 7, 2024: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. CT


AT&T Playoff Playlist Live!

The AT&T Playoff Playlist Live! will bring the music all weekend long at Shell Energy Stadium. Gates for the concert series will open at 6 p.m. CT each day. Fans will need to pre-register for tickets on the CFBPlayoff mobile app to receive a concert QR code. Fans will need to scan the QR code at the George R. Brown Convention Center between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on the day of the concert to receive a wristband.

Here's the full schedule:

  • Friday: KIDZ BOP
  • Saturday: Jack Harlow, Latto and special performances by 2 Chainz, Lil Boo Thang, and Paul Russell
  • Sunday: Jon Pardi, Jake Owen and Megan Moroney

Trophy Trot

On Sunday, fans will be able to participate in the Trophy Trot, a 5K and 10K race through downtown Houston. The Trophy Trot will begin at 9 a.m. and participants will receive a medal and t-shirt. Those interested will need to register for the event ahead of time. 

Proceeds will benefit the CFP Foundation’s Extra Yard for Teachers platform.

Taste of Championship

On Sunday, fans can get a gourmet dining experience prepared by local Houston chefs. Taste of the Championship will serve a unique combination of an exploration of local cuisine and a celebration of the teaching profession, according to CFP.

Taste of the Championship takes place at 5 p.m. in Union Station at Minute Maid Park. You can purchase tickets through collegefootballplayoff.com. All proceeds benefit the CFP Foundation’s Extra Yard for Teachers platform.

Allstate Championship Tailgate

UW's Purple Reign Tailgate is sold out and tickets are not available for purchase at the event. Fans looking to get in on the action can still gather for the Allstate Championship Tailgate.

The Allstate Championship Tailgate is open and free to all game ticket holders and is set to feature interactive games, sponsor activations, concessions, live ESPN broadcasts, and performances by each team’s marching band, along with country music artists Walker Hayes and Alli Walker. 

The tailgate will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Blue Lots 16, 17, and 18 at NRG Park.

The CFP Championship kickoff is 6:30 p.m. CT, 4:30 p.m. PT.
