SEATTLE — Talk about a good time to get a new hobby.

Learning how to edit video during the pandemic helped a Seattle man earn a trip to watch his beloved University of Washington Husky football team play in the Sugar Bowl next month.

UW is taking on the Texas Longhorns in New Orleans on Jan. 1.

“To see people who were so passionate and so willing to support me, it was like, the coolest moment (of) my life,” said the man who edits videos under the username UWAnimal.

He works as a technology consultant and does not want his employer to know he’s the creator of unique Husky highlight videos with more than 1 million views on social media sites.

He does not earn any money from his videos, but an online fundraiser raised more than $6,000 to pay for his game ticket and transportation to New Orleans.

“For me, it makes me laugh sometimes. I'm just a guy making little videos,” he said.

His videos combine game footage with movie and television clips, and visual and sound effects.

His post after the Pac-12 championship game against Oregon had nearly half a million views on X, formerly known as Twitter. It featured clips from Rocky II, The Hangover, Die Hard and Forrest Gump.

He said some of his ideas come from fans, but the rest are courtesy of Google.

”I'm going into Google and typing in different keywords, whether it be the opponent’s coach's name, whether it's a mascot name,” he said.

He’s hoping to have two more victories to work with – a Sugar Bowl win and a national championship.

”My love is Husky football. It's my passion,” said UWAnimal.
