3 takeaways from Seattle's win over Miami

Within minutes, the game already belonged to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday at Lumen Field.

SEATTLE — Sunday brought in another win for the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field.

Within minutes, the game already belonged to Seattle. The Seahawks topped the Miami Dolphins 24-3 on Sept. 22.

Here are three takeaways from the Week 3 victory at home.

It's Geno's game

An explosive start carried on throughout the game.

Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith threw a 71-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver DK Metcalf. It came immediately after the Seahawks’ defense held Miami to a field goal when Miami intercepted Smith on the Seahawks' own 4-yard line.

Running back Zach Charbonnet ran the ball for a touchdown, followed by Jason Myers extra point in the first quarter. The Seahawks’ scoring dried up after the first half, carrying the 17-3 score until the final minutes of the game.

In the fourth quarter, the Seahawks had a 91-yard drive after stopping Miami on the 6-yard line, culminating in a touchdown by Charbonnet to bring the score to 24-3.

Penalties all around

The promising start broke into a penalty-ridden game for both Miami and Seattle. There were 19 combined penalties for 153 yards after just three quarters for both squad's offense, defense and special teams.

Late in the third quarter, Seahawks’ Geno Smith followed up an intentional grounding call with his second interception of the day at midfield.

Trouble in paradise

Miami’s quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is sidelined due to a concussion. Backup quarterback Skyler Thompson filled in and was injured in the third quarter when he was hit by Seahawks linebacker Dre’Mont Jones, thus forcing the team to utilize practice squad quarterback Tim Boyle.
