LOS ANGELES — Are you ready for some Seahawks football this weekend?
The first game of the Mike Macdonald era will begin Saturday afternoon against the Los Angeles Chargers, one of many National Football League (NFL) teams featuring a new head coach this season.
Here's everything you should know about the Seahawks' first preseason game of the season.
Matchup: Chargers vs. Seahawks
Date: Saturday, Aug. 10
Kick-off time: 4:05 p.m. PT
TV channel: KONG
Check out a pregame special beginning at 3:30 p.m. on KONG, which will run right into the kick-off between the Seahawks and Chargers.
Once the final second ticks off on KONG, don't change the channel because we'll have a post-game show that will run until about 7:30 p.m.
What will the Seahawks offense look like?
Macdonald brought along former University of Washington offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb to revitalize an offense that was below average in points per game (17th) and yards per game (21st) in 2023.
Grubb helped build a potent UW offensive attack that was the guiding force between the Huskies' run to the National Championship Game. Under Grubb, quarterback Michael Penix Jr. led Division I with 4,903 passing yards. As a result of the Huskies' offensive success, Penix Jr., wide receiver Rome Odunze and offensive lineman Troy Fautanu became first-round picks in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Now Grubb is taking his offensive philosophy to the professional level. Will the Seahawks be able to juice its dormant offense with a new attack?
The pieces are certainly there to be an exciting offense. Last season the Seahawks underperformed despite having three capable wide receivers, a young running back duo with complementary skill sets, an emerging offensive line and the Comeback Player of the Year leading the team at quarterback.
While we likely won't see many of the Seahawks starters in the opening preseason game, it will be worth monitoring how Grubb patterns this offense in his image.

KING 5 will broadcast the Seahawks' two other preseason games against the Titans on Aug. 17 and the Browns on Aug. 24.
A pregame show in the Titans match-up begins at 3:30 p.m., and a pregame show against the Browns begins at 6:30 p.m.
