Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny left the field early during the team’s Monday morning training camp session.
Following practice, offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer was asked about Penny’s departure and whether or not he was OK. Schottenheimer only provided limited information.
“I think so,” Schottenheimer said. “I haven’t heard yet, but I think so.”
The Seahawks selected Penny in the first round of this year’s NFL Draft to add some power to the run game. In his first preseason outing, Penny logged eight carries for 16 yards and two receptions on two targets against the Colts.
Seattle’s running backs struggled to stay healthy last season and the team is hoping to avoid a repeat of last year.
Third-year back, C.J. Prosise, has already missed the first game of the preseason. Prosise was held out of the Seahawks vs. Colts matchup with a hip flexor injury and has yet to resume practice.
Coach Pete Carroll told reporters Sunday there was a chance he could return this week.
The players have an off day Tuesday and report back for duty Wednesday morning. Likely, there will be an update on Penny’s status by then.
