Blitz, Blue Thunder, the Sea Gals and former Seahawks players joined thousands of rallying fans at Seattle Center Wednesday as the city gets pumped up for Sunday's Super Bowl game.
Even the typical Seattle drizzle couldn't rain on the fans' parade. 12s wore their blue and green, flew flags, held signs and cheered loudy for their Seahawks!
I'm so pumped right now. This has been the longest week of my life, waiting for this game on Sunday. I can't wait, said Donovan Rhodes, Seahawks fan.
This group, they're anxious. They can't wait for the game, said Sonics former coach Lenny Wilkens, who hoisted the original 12th Man flag on the Space Needle that morning.
After the rally, Seahawks fans have the chance to participate in the From the Needle to New Jersey flag signing and relay.
The 25-foot by 35-foot flag, flown atop the Space Needle for every recent Seahawks playoff run, will be on display from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the base of the Space Needle for fans to sign with their well wishes to the team.
At 4:30 p.m., a caravan will transport the flag to SeaTac Airport. The signed flag flies to New Jersey, where it will tour landmarks, then will be given to the team prior to the kickoff of Super Bowl XLVIII on Sunday.
Fans will be able to follow the flag's journey every step of the way via Space Needle social media channels, including their Facebook page and the hashtag #NeedletoNJ.
