SEATTLE — Can the Seattle Seahawks bounce back from a surprising loss last week?

Seattle will have to get past a San Francisco 49ers team feeling pressure to resuscitate its season.

Here's what you need to know about the Seahawks' Week 6 matchup on Thursday Night Football.

  • Vegas favorite: 49ers by 3.5 points

Wild Wild NFC West

This is not the NFC West you’re looking for.

Widely regarded as one of the most competitive divisions in the National Football League (NFL), the division has just one team (Seahawks) above .500 through five games of the season.

The 49ers (2-3) have disappointed. The Cardinals (2-3) have flashed some moments of offensive brilliance but have otherwise stalled. The Rams (1-4) had injuries to their two top wide receivers and offensive line.

That’s what makes this Thursday night matchup particularly important. A victory for the Seahawks could give them a two-game head start on their counterparts if the Cardinals also lose this weekend. A win for the 49ers would thrust them back into the division race.

(And it also makes the Seahawks loss last week even more painful, given the circumstances. Seattle could easily be 4-1 and entering its primetime home game on a high.)

Game prediction

49ers 24, Seahawks 20.
