This coming Monday night, don’t adjust your television sets! On Tuesday afternoon the Seattle Seahawks announced they are once again donning the loudest uniform in the NFL for Monday Night Football – their Action Green Color Rush uniform.
The Seahawks take on the Vikings for a critical Monday night matchup where they hope to make a statement for their postseason aspirations. However, with these uniforms, the Seahawks are likely to make a statement no matter what.
Seattle debuted the Action Greens for Thursday Night Football in 2016 against the Rams, winning 24-3. The Seahawks pushed their all-time record while wearing the Action Greens to 2-0 when they beat the Cardinals 22-16.
The NFL once mandated teams playing on Thursday’s to wear their Color Rush in an attempt to spice up the games, but the league has since ended the policy. Teams are now free to wear these uniforms at their discretion. Franchises like New England, Cleveland, Baltimore, and both Los Angeles teams clearly embrace this freedom and have worn their Color Rush uniforms multiple times this year.
Now it’s Seattle’s turn to do so on Monday night, which will also mark the first time the Seahawks have worn their all-green alternates on a day other than Thursday. There is no word yet what uniforms Minnesota will wear, but their Color Rush attire is all purple. Should the Vikings choose to wear theirs it would provide a unique contrast to the Seahawks.
