Seahawks wow fans with touchdown celebration dance to 'New Edition'

Former Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren, a former player and fans reacted to the team's carefully choreographed touchdown dance on Monday.

SEATTLE — After the Seahawks' victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Monday, fans are talking about their performance on the field – and their celebration dance in the endzone.

A now-viral clip from the Monday Night Football broadcast shows players dancing in tribute to New Edition’s “If It Isn’t Love,” after a touchdown pass.

“That was great,” said fan Trishann Couvillion. “Always make me wonder how much time they spent preparing for just when the moment is right.”

The answer to that – at least some time. A video tweeted by the Seahawks shows them practicing their moves on the indoor field at the VMAC.

WR David Moore laughed about it in the locker room after the win.

"When you got a group effort, you got to practice a little bit,” he said. “We had some practicing."

“You know what, for them to be so intricate, they’ve got to practice at some point,” said former Seahawks running back Randall Morris.

"Back when we played - that's a long time ago - it wasn't dances like that going on, but I'm glad they're bringing something like that to the forefront," he said. "It's all about entertainment, and they gave us strict great entertainment last night."

Former Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren said it’s a big change from when he was in the league. He’s usually not a fan of touchdown celebrations – but appreciated the commitment.

“I’ll tell you what, if you’re going to do one, do it like that,” he said. “That was beautiful. They were in perfect step. It was clear they had practiced a lot. I trust they practiced their football as much, and it worked for them.”

Seattle heads to Los Angeles to take on the Rams Sunday.
