When most people take their honeymoons, humanitarian efforts are not typically a part of the vacation. However, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and his wife Ciara are not most people.
During the couple’s trip to South Africa, Wilson and Ciara took time to “notch” two rhinos with microchips to help protect them from poachers.

“We’re gonna do rhino notching,” Ciara said. “The mission is to save the rhinos.” Wilson then added: “It’s to stop the rhino poaching. Here in [South] Africa particularly, they’re doing tons of poaching here. They’re killing thousands and thousands of rhinos just in South Africa alone.”
Wilson and Ciara then boarded a helicopter to go deeper into the safari to find a pair of rhinos who weren’t previously chipped. Fortunately, they were able to so they could begin the process of helping members of one of the most critically endangered species on Earth.
The two rhinos saved were then named “Zahir Wilson” and “Princess Wilson,” after their two children’s middle names.
