SEATTLE — Both Washington and Washington State's football programs will have representation in the 2024 Super Bowl, with three players on the Kansas City Chiefs' roster between the two schools.
Cornerbacks Trent McDuffie, Keith Taylor and Jaylen Watson all played their college football in the state of Washington. McDuffie and Taylor played for the Huskies at UW, while Watson starred for the Cougars at Washington State.
McDuffie is the most notable of the three, having been selected by the Chiefs in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He became a starter for the Chiefs by the end of his rookie season and had five tackles in the team's Super Bowl LVI win over the Philadelphia Eagles in February 2023.
Taylor was a fifth-round draft pick of the Carolina Panthers in 2020, and he spent his first two NFL seasons with the team. After being waived in August 2023, Taylor was signed to the Chiefs' practice squad and did not appear in a regular-season game this past season.
Watson was also drafted by the Chiefs in 2022, being selected in the seventh round with pick No. 243 overall. He had interceptions in both of Kansas City's playoff games leading up to the Chiefs' Super Bowl LVI victory. Watson had three tackles in the game.
The 2024 edition of the Super Bowl will be played in Las Vegas for the first time in the event's history. Kick-off is set for 3:30 p.m. PT between the San Francisco 49ers and the Chiefs on Sunday, Feb. 11.
