SEATTLE — Seattle Reign midfielder Quinn is making their third Olympic appearance this summer with Team Canada, but they have developed a special bond with their second home.
"I love the Pacific Northwest. You know, I've been here for I want to say five years now and so it really is becoming like my second home," Quinn told KING 5 in an exclusive interview. "I almost feel at times that I know Seattle better than I do Toronto now, which is kind of funny, but they're both very special places for me."
Quinn was part of a bronze-medal-winning squad in the 2016 Olympics and ended up winning gold in the Tokyo Olympics. It's a moment they will never forget.
"I mean, now it's, you know, a couple of years past that experience and I still think it's something that I can't put into words," Quinn said. "It was a childhood dream of mine to step on the podium at the Olympics. And so to be able to say that I accomplished my childhood dream is truly an incredible feeling. Sometimes I still think to myself, like wow, I actually actually did that."
Growing up in Toronto, Quinn cherishes being able to hear their nation's anthem on the world's biggest stage.
"It's incredible because they only play the anthem of the winning team," Quinn said. "And so I think for us that was that was our goal. And that was kind of our mantra going into it is that we wanted to hear the anthem at the end of the tournament and so to be able to achieve that, it's just it's a really proud moment. One that we got to share with our country and I think you know, everyone watching they're pretty excited about that."
Team Canada won its first match at the Paris Olympics on Thursday morning and will again play in group-stage contests on July 28 and 31.
