PARIS, France — For the first time in 16 years, Team USA will be part of the Olympic field in team artistic swimming, formerly known as synchronized swimming. Among the American athletes competing for the U.S. in Paris are a pair of locals, Audrey Kwon from Seattle and Keana Hunter from Issaquah.
Both Hunter and Kwon were part of the U.S. team that punched a ticket to Paris at the World Aquatic Championships in Doha, Qatar, in February. In each of the prior three Olympics, the U.S. only sent a duet pair in the discipline.

The first set of team performances will begin at 10:30 a.m. PT on Monday with the technical routine, followed by the team free routine on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.
The last time the U.S. won an Olympic gold in the team portion of the artistic swimming competition was in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.
Russia has won gold in each of the six Olympic games in team artistic swimming, but the country was not admitted to the Paris Olympics due to the nation's invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
