SEATTLE, WASH.-Seattle Sounders FC forward Chad Barrett has been voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for week 11 of the 2015 MLS season.
Barrett opened his 2015 scoring account with a pair of goals that propelled Sounders FC to a 2-0 Cascadia Cup victory over Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday. The brace marked Barrett's first since May 8, 2010, when he scored twice in Toronto FC's 4-1 win versus the Chicago Fire.
With starting striker Obafemi Martins sidelined by injury, Sounders FC coach Sigi Schmid tabbed Barrett to start alongside Clint Dempsey. The 30-year-old, making his second start of the season, wasted no time making his presence felt on the pitch scoring in the fifth and 38th minutes.
The brace and boosted Sounders to the top spot of the Cascadia Cup standings.
