SEATTLE - Microsoft will celebrate the grand opening of its second Seattle area Microsoft Store in Seattle's University Village Thursday with several local sports celebrities and performances by big rock groups, including The Black Keys.
The new store opens its doors Thursday at 9:30 a.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Seattle Mariners slugger Edgar Martinez and Seattle Sounders FC goalkeeper Kasey Keller will be at the store to play with Kinect with customers and fans at 5:00 and 7:30 p.m.
Microsoft will also have two exclusive performances for the grand opening. Grammy-winning rock duo The Black Keys will perform at the store Friday night, while the Grammy-nominated group OneRepublic will perform Saturday night.
Customers attending the grand opening ceremonies will have a chance to win free tickets to the exclusive performances, along with a gift bag.
The new store, located directly across the parking lot from the Apple Store, will be the 12th Microsoft Store to open. The company currently has 11 retail locations around the United States, including a store at Bellevue Square mall. At that store's opening last November, teen idol Miley Cyrus performed.
