Whale stranding officials performed a necropsy Thursday on a juvenile female gray whale found dead on Whidbey Island.
She had no obvious signs of trauma.
Officials say the whale appeared malnourished, but that isn't strange for this time of year. She was also covered in whale lice, which is a sign that she has been sick for a while.
The necropsy results could take a couple months.
