Bears are waking up all over Western Washington and wildlife officials want to make sure human trash isn't their first post-hibernation brunch.
Recent video from a security camera in a Snoqualmie neighborhood shows a mother bear and her cub scouring for trash cans.
They can pose a danger for any human that stumbles upon them, and bears that become a nuisance are sometimes relocated, but they can also be euthanized.
A bear's sense of smell is 2,100 times stronger than a human.
Experts recommend bear resistant trash cans or keeping your trash in the garage. For more information, visit Bear Smart WA or Western Wildlife Outreach.
