Witnesses sought in New Year's Day wrong-way crash on SR-18

WSP detectives are asking anyone who may have seen the collision or the Subaru prior to the crash to contact them.

Detectives are now seeking witnesses in a wrong-way, head-on crash on SR-18 that left one person seriously injured on New Year's Day.

The crash happened just before 3:30 a.m. near Auburn Way when a 2001 Subaru was traveling east in the westbound lanes of SR-18 from I-5 and struck three other vehicles, according to Washington State Patrol.

The driver of one of the vehicles struck, a 2006 Acura, was seriously injured and taken to a hospital.

The driver of the Subaru was placed under arrest for Vehicular Assault due to the nature of injuries and suspected impairment.
