I-5 crash in Everett clears after causing 6-mile back-up

A passing vehicle rescued a dog that was in the motorhome and ran into traffic, and two people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

EVERETT, Wash. — A crash involving multiple cars, including a motor home, backed up traffic for several miles on northbound Interstate 5 in Everett on Wednesday.

The crash was reported at about 11:15 a.m. just north of the State Route 526/Boeing Freeway interchange. There was a lot of debris from the 30- to 40-foot-long motorhome that was involved in the crash, according to Washington State Patrol (WSP).

It took about four hours to completely clear the debris. Traffic cameras from the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) showed all lanes were open at about 3:15 p.m.

At the backup's longest point at 3 p.m., it had reached 6 miles, according to WSDOT.

Crews with the Everett Fire Department extricated two people from the motorhome, one of whom was trapped. They were taken to Providence Regional Medical Center with minor injuries, WSP said.

Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes and should expect delays near the crash scene.
