UPDATE: WSDOT says the closure planned for scheduled for northbound State Route 99 on Friday has been canceled and will be rescheduled for a later date.
The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will close about 1.5 mile stretch of northbound State Route 99 in Seattle this weekend for road work.
All northbound lanes will be closed from South Spokane Street to S Atlantic Street starting at 9 p.m. Friday. The roadway is expected to open Monday around 5 a.m.
The on-ramp to northbound SR 99 at Royal Brougham Way will be open, along with both directions of the viaduct through Seattle.
WSDOT said crews condensed their sign-bridge work needed before the SR 99 tunnel can open to traffic later this year.
Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to plan their trip before leaving.
