SEATTLE — Drivers who use the State Route 99 tunnel under Seattle and the Tacoma Narrows Bridge will soon have to pay higher tolls.
Toll rates for the SR 99 tunnel will increase about 15% on October 1, and tolls for the Tacoma Narrows Bridge will increase by about 25-cents.
The Washington State Transportation Commission approved the increased tolls in August.
Starting Friday, toll rates for the SR 99 tunnel during the week will range from $1.15 to $2.60, depending on the time of day. The toll rate on the weekends will increase from $1 to $1.15. Drivers without a “Good To Go!” pass will pay an additional $2.
Drivers who have a Good To Go! pass will pay $5.25 to use the Tacoma Narrows Bridge starting Friday.
The rate increases come as the state works to regain revenue lost during the COVID-19 pandemic when the number of commuters plummeted.
