FERNDALE, Wash. — All southbound lanes of Interstate 5 near Ferndale are back open after a full closure following an early-morning collision, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) said.
The closure was first reported around 2:40 a.m. Friday morning near Portal Way. WSDOT said the collision involved a car and a motorcycle and was "serious." No updates were available on the conditions of anyone involved in the wreck. The roadway reopened just after 8 a.m. Friday.
A two-mile backup built up in the southbound lanes before the roadway was cleared.
