EVERETT, Wash. — A 10-mile backup is stemming from a deadly crash between a car and a pedestrian Thursday on Interstate 5 southbound in Everett.
Washington State Patrol Trooper Kelsey Harding confirmed a fatal collision occurred at milepost 189 early in the morning, which is near Everett Mall Way.
The crash has since cleared, but the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) warned that it would take a while for the backups to clear out. State routes 9 and 204 and US 2 are also backed up due to added congestion from drivers taking alternate routes.
WSDOT asked drivers to be prepared for major delays.
