Both directions of I-405 will have overnight closures this week. Here's where

The Renton and south Bellevue portions of I-405 will be fully closed starting Monday night due to construction

RENTON, Wash. — Starting Monday through Thursday all lanes of Interstate 405 in both directions in Renton and south Bellevue will be closed overnight, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).

The closures begin nightly at 10 p.m. Monday to 4:30 a.m. Thursday. For northbound I-405, all lanes will be closed between Exit 5 (state Route 900/Sunset Boulevard Northeast) and Exit 9 (112th Avenue Southeast/Lake Washington Boulevard Southeast).

The northbound lanes will be closed between Exit 10 (Coal Creek Parkway Southeast) and Exit 7 (Northeast 44th Street) overnight. For each direction, transportation officials said there will be signed detour routes.

The closures are due to crews setting bridge girders near 112th Avenue Southeast as a part of the I-405/Renton to Bellevue Widening and Express Toll Lanes Project

WSDOT has also released a list of ramps that will be closed nightly this week:

  • The SR 900/Sunset Boulevard Northeast on-ramp to northbound I-405.
  • The North 30th Street on-ramp to northbound I-405.
  • The Northeast 44th Street on-ramp to northbound I-405.
  • The Coal Creek Parkway Southeast on-ramp to southbound I-405.
  • The 112th Avenue Southeast/Lake Washington Boulevard Southeast (Exit 9) on-ramp to southbound I-405.

This week's closures follow last weekend's from Friday night to Monday morning, when crews worked on fixing the Lind Avenue bridge span after a truck struck the overpass back in June 2022.

Other closures include the right land of southbound I-405 between Exit 9 and Exit 7 from the Wednesday afternoon community to before the morning commute on Thursday.

Crews are also working to make emergency repairs to a broken pip underneath the road.
